Angela Larmer provides evidence-based mental health services to individuals across Ontario, offering psychotherapy within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework, supporting a range of concerns including post-traumatic stress, trauma related symptoms, grief, loss and life transitions, phobias and work related stress. She is passionate about helping first responders and veterans.
I am a trauma-informed, culturally responsive psychotherapist and registered nurse with over 25 years' experience in supporting individuals in a holistic person centered way. I believe that people heal by looking at ‘what has happened’ to them and not with a lens of ‘what is wrong’ with them.
Together we will explore how your past is present in your daily behaviours, thoughts and beliefs. I integrate therapy with a wide range of approaches that focus on stabilization and safety, working through and processing acute and complex trauma symptoms, emotions and memories so that you can live a life that feels more connected and joyful.
Using somatic, bottom-up approaches, I will help guide you in reconnecting with your body so that you can begin to live a life that feels more connected, self-led and confident.
Our external world has systems that can separate us from ourselves and each other and create feelings of isolation and ‘othering’ that keeps us stuck in patterns of beliefs that limit our potential. Sometimes a diagnoses in our current systems can be helpful in order to receive accommodations, validation and at times medication, that can help us begin to move toward more of a sense of calm. I believe it takes more than one system or way of thinking to create a true sense of well-being.
In our work together, we will create a personalized plan to deepen your self-connection, build confidence, and foster a greater sense of self-leadership. Our sessions will focus on processing emotions, healing past wounds, focusing on strengths and inner resourcing and addressing the barriers that prevent you from living the life you desire.
